What the Paintbox answers

Four questions everyone with a full drawer of paint has asked. All four are answered in the tray above.

“What’s the difference between all these tubes?”

Every tube in the tray carries its real pigment, how opaque it is, whether it granulates, and which way it leans warm or cool.

“Which ones actually go together?”

Paint a scene with a whole palette rather than a guess — including the small ones the painters used: Turner’s eleven, Sargent’s twelve, Homer’s thirteen.

“Can I use this one instead of that one?”

If a tube isn’t in your box, the Paintbox knows the roads to that colour through the ones that are — and what you give up taking each.

“How do I mix this colour?”

Describe the scene and the tool plans it warm against cool, picks the tubes, and gives you the order to lay them. So you stop making mud.

Mixing is free and needs no account. When a colour is worth keeping, saving it makes you a traveller — one address, no password.
